A Book Quiz!

1. Favorite childhood book?

Harry Potter…

2. What are you reading right now?

Brave New World, The Idiot and The Kreutzer Sonata

3. What books do you have on request at the library?

I’ve never used the library and probably never will.

4. Bad book habit?

bad book habits: I read too many books at the same time, it sometimes takes me months to finish a book (if I finish it) or I read non stop and finish it in a day (which is bad for my eyes), I obsess over writers and try to read their complete bibliography and then end up kind of hating them (if they weren’t that good, of course), I spend A LOT of money on books (I usually buy cheap second hand books but like A LOT)

5. What do you currently have checked out at the library?

None.

6. Do you have an e-reader?

Soon. I use my phone sometimes, though.

7. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once?

ideally, one, but you know… I just can’t.

8. Have your reading habits changed since starting a blog?

No, but I’ve read a lot more since I bought my Moleskine for books and I’ve heard about a lot of books thanks to the reviews on goodreads. Actually, thanks to goodreads I’ve read more than 50 books last year!

9. Least favorite book you read this year (so far?)

Little Birds by Anaïs Nin.

10. Favorite book you’ve read this year?

The Waves by Virginia Woolf

11. How often do you read out of your comfort zone?

I’ve been reading some graphic novels lately, but not too often.

12. What is your reading comfort zone?

anything except  religious/too romantic/too cliché/moralistic books

13. Can you read on the bus?

That’s my reading spot.

14. Favorite place to read?

The bus, Starbucks or any coffee store.

15. What is your policy on book lending?

I want to lend the book more than the person I’m lending it to wants to receive it. But I hate if they take too long to give it back.

16. Do you ever dog-ear books?

I actually had to google this… and totally no, I never do that, there’s always something to use as bookmark! why would anybody need to do that?

17. Do you ever write in the margins of your books?

No. I don’t mind if people do it, though.

18. Not even with text books?

Yes, almost always with text books.

19. What is your favorite language to read in?

The language it was written on if it is English, Spanish or Italian, and English if it was written in any other language, unless I find it in Spanish first.

20. What makes you love a book?

The writing.

21. What will inspire you to recommend a book?

I don’t tend to recommend books.

I don’t believe in genres (?)

23. Genre you rarely read (but wish you did?)

The Waves, I guess.

28. Favorite reading snack?

Coffee. I can’t eat while reading.

29. Name a case in which hype ruined your reading experience.

I don’t get why this happens to people. If I like or dislike something it’s because I’ve read it and have formed an opinion over it and nothing else matters! Although, I accidentally heard on TV the end of Harry Potter before finishing it… and it kind of lessened my enjoyment (but not enough to ruin it, of course)

30. How often do you agree with critics about a book?

I never read critic reviews.

31. How do you feel about giving bad/negative reviews?

I feel bad if the person is alive… and if I actually like him/her as person. So I probably just won’t write it or delete it after a couple of days.

32. If you could read in a foreign language, which language would you choose?

I can and I do. But I would love to be able to read in French and in Russian.
